Many NBA players enjoy a respected and peaceful retirement after their NBA careers. However, this hasn’t been the case for former player Kyle Singler. Singler recently revealed that he’s been living in daily fear and feeling alienated from his community.
Singler recently posted a troubling video on Instagram. In the video, he appeared shirtless and spoke openly about his struggles. The former player expressed that his life has become increasingly difficult, as he constantly feels targeted by people in his own community.
“I need to make an announcement because I feel like my voice is getting silenced. Every day, [expletive] is being thrown my way. I’ve been mistreated and abused, neglected, made into a mental example,” Singler said in the video.
‘I fear for my life every day. People in my community make me look out like I’m someone who’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful,” he added.
Silver kicked off his NBA career in 2011 after a stellar career with Duke. The former Duke star played six seasons with the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game during his NBA career.
Kyle Singler Finds Support In NBPA And Fellow Players Amid Personal Struggles
The recent struggles of former NBA player Kyle Singler have not gone unnoticed. The NBA Players Association (NBPA) has stepped in to offer its support. Following Singler’s post, the NBPA confirmed they are in contact with his family and ready to provide assistance.
“We are in contact with Kyle’s family. As with all current and former members of the NBPA, we offer any and all support to players, whether through their biggest successes or times of challenge,” the spokesperson said.
Alongside the NBPA, several current and former NBA players have publicly shown their support for Singler on social media. Heat’s Kevin Love, 76ers’ Andre Drummond, and former NBA forward Chandler Parsons are among those who have extended their solidarity.
