All that’s left for Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora is to get shot out of a dumpster because he’s taken the most possible hits before being humiliated to the utmost degree. This isn’t 2018 anymore, buddy.
Over the weekend, the New York Yankees smacked around the Red Sox and took three out of four games to close the door on their matchups until 2025. Though Gerrit Cole almost ruined it for them with some Saturday drama, it wasn’t enough for Cora to motivate his side to take enough action on Sunday.

Cole (accidentally) hit Rafael Devers with a pitch in the first inning of Saturday’s game and then intentionally walked him in ridiculous fashion in the fourth inning (with one out, nobody on base and the Yankees up by a run), which opened the floodgates for an eventual 7-1 Red Sox victory.
After that game, Cora accused Cole of intentionally hitting Devers, causing a stir as he tried to create controversy out of nothing to rally his troops, who badly needed to salvage a series split. The next day, Cora said the Red Sox had no plans to retaliate because they attempted to in the sixth inning of Saturday’s game but failed.
In reviewing the footage, Brayan Bello very clearly threw at Aaron Judge but missed. After Cora’s comments and that clip making its rounds, MLB decided to open an investigation into the matter, per the New York Post.
MLB investigating Red Sox for comments about hitting Yankees’ Aaron Judge
Any chance we can open up an investigation about the Red Sox’s 2018 season, too? Let’s vacate that World Series if we get a chance. No champions for 2017 and 2018.
Either way, Cora’s rallying cry fell on deaf ears. The Red Sox lost the finale 5-2 and fell 4.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race. And now he’ll have a lot of think about on the team’s day off on Monday before their three-game set against the Rays.
On top of that, Judge clowned Cora in Sunday’s postgame when asked about the Sox throwing at him the day prior.
Back on July 24, the Red Sox and Cora agreed to a three-year contract extension … after Cora said before the season that he wouldn’t negotiate a deal until the 2024 campaign ended. Since signing the deal, the Red Sox are 21-28.
The Cora “wizardry” that everyone likes to talk about really just feels like that one run in 2018 followed by the fraudulent 2021 trip to the ALCS. And after this investigation, he’ll have two black marks on his ledger to match the same amount of successes.
