Michael Cera addresses getting slapped in This Is The End after Rihanna let him 'slap her a**'

Rihanna let Michael Cera ‘slap her a**’ in This Is The End

Michael Cera has explained why he wanted Rihanna to slap him in the face in This Is The End after she let him ‘slap her a**’.

Of course, the comedy film, directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, came out in 2013 with a cast of actors who all play fictionalised versions of themselves.

This Is The End follows six Hollywood celebrities; Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson, who attend a party at Franco’s house in Los Angeles.

Suddenly, mid party, an apocalyptic event strikes, leaving the group stranded in the mansion.

The celebs then try and come together to survive supernatural threats, chaos, and savage moments of betrayal.

Now, at the apocalyptic house party we also get cameos from Emma Watson, Rihanna, Michael Cera, and Channing Tatum.

And in one of the most memorable scenes from the film, Cera, who plays a coked-up sexual deviant, slaps Rihanna’s a** and the singer responds by smacking him in the face.

“In the script, Michael Cera slaps Rihanna’s ass and she doesn’t hit him back,” Rogen previously told Sway’s Universe.

“But he asked her, ‘Can I slap your ass for real?’ And she said, ‘You can slap my ass for real if I can slap you back in the face for real.'”

Rogen claims that they did the scene ‘three or four times’ after she ‘smacked the f**k’ out of Cera.

Giving his version of events in an interview with GQ from 2023, Cera said: “Yeah, I mean she definitely hit me. Yeah. But I really, I wanted that, you know.

“I mean, I think it’s a lot funnier and a lot more convincing.

“I mean, a fake slap just doesn’t look good. So she hit me hard. I mean, yeah, she really sent me flying, and it was great.

“And now it’s on film forever, this pain that I experienced.”

Meanwhile, Rogen explained that the actual slap was a ‘cupping of the ear’ which ‘actually whacked out his equilibrium’.

“And he had to go lay down in his trailer for around half an hour,” he added.

“That’s the take we used in the movie. We didn’t add any sound to that or anything.”

Meanwhile, This Is The End received a pretty solid Rotten Tomatoes score of 82 percent, with one critic calling it ‘juvenile and inconsequential, but it is also a lot of fun’.
