Meteorologist John Morales became emotional while discussing Hurricane Milton’s potential impact on NBC 6. Milton, currently gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to make landfall in Florida as a Category 5 hurricane later this week. This follows Hurricane Helene, which killed around 250 people across five states earlier this month.

Meteorologist John Morales was explaining the potential impact of Hurricane Milton on NBC 6 as it made landfall in Florida as a Category 5 hurricane. As the veteran meteorologist spoke, he got emotional and seemed to shed a tear as explained how massive a Category 5 hurricane could be.
Currently in the Gulf of Mexico and gaining in strength rapidly, Milton is expected to make landfall in Florida later this week, most likely as a Category 5 Hurricane. It will come on the heels of Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in Florida earlier this month and killed around 250 people across five states.
Here’s the video of Morales crying on air:
The National Hurricane Center predicts Hurricane Milton will make landfall on Florida’s west coast Wednesday as a Category 3 storm, impacting the Tampa Bay region, which hasn’t seen a direct hit in over a century. Milton may retain hurricane strength as it moves across central Florida toward the Atlantic. This path would spare states already devastated by Hurricane Helene, which killed at least 230 people from Florida to the Carolinas.
Check out Times Now’s coverage of Hurricane Milton here:
The Tampa metro area, home to over 3.3 million people, faces a potential direct hit from Hurricane Milton, threatening the same coastline battered by Helene. On Monday, heavy traffic filled Interstate 75 as evacuees fled ahead of Milton’s arrival. Crews are also rushing to clear debris left by Hurricane Helene.
