Saturday night, after the loss to the Golden Knights live from the Bell Centre, did Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis let something slip?
During his post-game press conference, St-Louis made a statement that might hint at the possibility of Samuel Montembeault representing Canada in the Four Nations Tournament.
As the invitations are about to be announced, here’s what Martin St-Louis said after Saturday’s game.
An intriguing comment from Martin St-Louis on Samuel Montembeault
To defend his goaltender, whom he had just pulled from the game against Vegas, St-Louis let the following comment slip:
«Even the goaltenders who are going to the Four Nations Tournament don’t make those saves.»
– Martin St-Louis
This small comment is creating quite a stir today.
«One might think that St-Louis is just defending Montembeault with this statement, but at the same time, one could think that, subtly, St-Louis is hinting that Monty might not go to the tournament to represent Canada.»
– Mathis Therrien, DLC
It’s possible that Martin St-Louis knows something we don’t, but let’s hope that’s not the case and that this is just a misunderstanding because I genuinely believe Samuel deserves a spot with Team Canada.
