The Canadiens suffered a fifth straight loss last night at the hands of the New Jersey Devils and the defensive performance is very questionable.

Martin St-Louis must be dealing with a lot of criticism and rumors at the moment, with many analysts believing he may no longer be the man for the job.

For Gilbert Delorme, things have to change right now, otherwise he’ll have to change coaches. The former Montreal Canadiens player says that Martin’s system of play just doesn’t work.

According to him, the CH has been using the system for three years and it still doesn’t work, perhaps they should stop being stubborn and simply change their playing system.

The Canadian is a laughing stock in his zone because it is so difficult. Nobody seems to know where to position themselves and the opposing players are always alone in the dangerous zones.

The analyst goes even further by mentioning that it’s embarrassing and that if it continues like this, the Canadiens won’t be eliminated from the playoffs on Valentine’s Day, it will be at Christmas, which is very early.

Personally, I don’t completely agree with Gilbert, but I’m not against him. I think it would be a mistake to throw in the towel with Martin St-Louis, but I think he needs to make adjustments and quickly.

Defensively, the Canadiens are simply not up to par, even though we are supposed to have a good defense. It’s incomprehensible.

I really hope that adjustments will be made, because the pressure will finally get the better of the leaders to change coaches if nothing changes. It’s all well and good to talk after defeats, but now we need solutions.
