LeBron James Continues to Be Toronto’s “Nemesis”; Los Angeles Lakers Return to Winning Ways

Anthony Davis scored his highest points of the season, joining LeBron James (28 points, 10 assists) and the Los Angeles Lakers team in defeating the Toronto Raptors on the road. The words “LeBronTo” were written on LeBron’s shoes today (November 2), as he took the court at ScotiaBank Arena to face the Raptors.

In his 74 games against the Canadian team, James has won 56 times, including 12 victories in three playoff series while he was in the Eastern Conference.

LeBron James is seen as the “nemesis” of the Toronto Raptors due to his high winning percentage against them, even earning the nickname “LeBronTo,” which translates to “LeBron—the ruler of Toronto.”

Today, the Los Angeles Lakers star once again faced the Raptors on their home court and claimed another win.

Starting strong with 14 points in the first quarter, LeBron James finished the game with a double-double of 27 points and 10 assists, helping the Lakers defeat the Raptors with a final score of 131-125.

In his 75th game against the Toronto Raptors this morning, LeBron James secured his 57th victory over the Canadian team.

Before today’s game, the Los Angeles Lakers were on a two-game losing streak after facing the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers, both on the road. Going up against a Toronto Raptors team missing three key players due to injury (ranked 13th in the Eastern Conference with only one win so far), James and his teammates viewed this as a must-win game.

The Lakers started strong and confident, led by LeBron’s physical play, establishing a 20-point lead by the end of the first quarter, extending it to 25 points by halftime.

“LeBronTo” James heated up early, consistently helping the Lakers maintain the lead over the Toronto Raptors.

What initially appeared to be a comfortable win turned into a tighter game as the Raptors, with their young and energetic lineup, mounted a comeback.

Young talent Gradey Dick and star RJ Barrett took the lead for the Raptors, scoring a combined 64 points and continuously threatening the Lakers’ advantage.

They cut the lead down to 8 points midway through the third quarter and nearly tied the game in the fourth. Nevertheless, the Los Angeles team held on, thanks to clutch points from Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell.

D’Angelo Russell (19 PTS, 6 AST) delivered crucial points in the fourth quarter to help secure the Lakers’ win.

“Our last two losses were due to us defeating ourselves. This time, we were not perfect, but we finally came out with the win. It’s a positive sign,” LeBron James said after his 27-point, 10-assist, 6-rebound, and 1-steal performance.

Anthony Davis sealed the victory for the Lakers with two free throws, giving them their fourth win in six games this season. Davis scored a season-high 38 points (14-20 FG, 10-11 FT), along with 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists.

Austin Reaves gave Lakers fans a scare with a sprained ankle but still finished the game with 20 points, 6 assists, and went 12-14 from the free-throw line, making up for his 6-20 field-goal shooting.

“I’m glad the team won; that’s the most important thing,” Austin Reaves shared. “When I first twisted my ankle, it hurt quite a bit. But after getting treatment in the locker room, I felt better and was able to return.”

This was the Lakers’ first road win of the season, ending their two-game losing streak (both on the road) against the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Anthony Davis scored a season-high 38 points. In all four of the Lakers’ wins, Davis has scored at least 30 points.

“After losing two games, there was no way we could lose again today. The team put pressure on ourselves, setting a must-win goal. In the end, that’s what we achieved,” said Davis, who has now scored over 30 points in four games this season.

The Lakers’ extended road trip continues next Tuesday morning when they face the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.
