Davante Adams’ name has popped up aplenty in trade rumors dating back to last season. In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported after the 2023 trade deadline that the New York Jets inquired about Adams’ availability, only to be told that the Raiders weren’t shopping him.
Adams has three years left on the five-year, $140 million deal he signed with Vegas in 2024. But his hefty salary will not scare Super Bowl-contending teams from making a play for him if the Raiders decide to shop the All-Pro wideout.
The Jets have been linked to Adams because of his history with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay for eight years. But what if another AFC contender stepped up and made the Raiders a better offer they couldn’t refuse?
Another AFC team that makes perfect sense for Adams is the Cleveland Browns, who are in win-now mode with veterans Myles Garrett, Za’Darius Smith, Denzel Ward, Deshaun Watson, Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper, Jack Conklin, Wyatt Teller and Joel Bitonio in their primes.
The Raiders haven’t at all indicated that they’re in rebuilding mode, so GM Tom Telesco might not want only draft picks for his star wideout. This makes the Browns an ideal trade partner because they also have a Pro Bowl receiver who may not be here long-term in Cooper.
What Browns Should Offer Raiders For Davante Adams
Cleveland should offer Las Vegas Amari Cooper and a 2025 second-round pick in exchange for Davante Adams.
It’s a hefty price for a wide receiver on the wrong side of 30, yes, but the Browns must follow the “go big or go home” philosophy if they want to compete in a crowded AFC. Adding a top-10 NFL wide receiver in Adams to complement Watson, Chubb, David Njoku, and Jerry Jeudy would push Cleveland that much closer to a franchise’s first Super Bowl.
The Raiders would reunite with Cooper, ensure a steady WR1 option, and pick up a valuable day-two pick to help their retooling phase. And if Cooper doesn’t want to stay in Las Vegas beyond 2024, he can leave in 2025 free agency It’s a win-win trade for all those involved.
