While several experts believe that Cayden Primeau should be placed on NHL waivers, here’s an interesting development.

The guys from Stanley25, Jean Trudel and Maxime Truman, have just released a new episode, an episode featuring several intriguing details.

Their guest is the excellent Tony Marinaro, and we highly recommend the interview.

That said, there’s a particular statement that caught my attention, a statement from Maxime Truman (who has excellent sources).

We have no reason to doubt his information.

Kent Hughes received better trade offers for Cayden Primeau than what he received for Jake Allen

See the relevant excerpt.

«Last year, they received better offers for Cayden Primeau than they did for Jake Allen.. And they traded Jake Allen.»

– Maxime Truman

Obviously, it seems to have been the wrong decision.

Allen is having a good season in New Jersey, with a save percentage of 0.914 and a goals-against average of 2.35.

Primeau, 25 years old, has an entirely unacceptable save percentage of 0.845 this season, with a goals-against average of 4.67.

Considering that Allen was ultimately traded for a conditional 2nd-round draft pick, which is likely to become a 3rd-round pick, we can say that Primeau was worth more than that a few months ago.

And you, do you think the Canadiens should have traded Cayden Primeau?

We hope that young Primeau can turn things around, but let’s say his career start has not been very promising.

Let’s hope he proves us all wrong.
