As you know, it’s been tough for the Montreal Canadiens’ goalies for a while now, especially for Cayden Primeau.
While many fans are calling for change, Canadiens’ management might be patient before making a move because all eyes are on Jacob Fowler.
Jacob Fowler with the Montreal Canadiens sooner than expected?
In Calabretta’s latest article, the following passage really caught my attention:
«For now, Montembeault will hold the throne until it’s time for Fowler to take over, possibly as early as next season.» – TFP
Wow! I’m not sure how realistic that is, but it’s true that Fowler is extremely impressive, and he seems almost too strong for the NCAA.
Could he take over as early as next season?
It will be interesting to watch, but could Fowler be signed by the Montreal Canadiens right after his NCAA season ends, similar to what the Buffalo Sabres did with Devon Levi a few years ago?
Do you also believe that Fowler could take over much sooner than expected, as early as next season?
In any case, we can expect the Montreal Canadiens’ management to be cautious with the development of their future goalie, but at the same time, if it’s clear he’s ready, then so be it!
Jacob Fowler, 19 years old, has a record of 7-1-0 this season with Boston College, a goals-against average of 1.26, and an incredible save percentage of 0.950.
If Fowler indeed arrives sooner than expected, I think it would be another reason to give Jakub Dobes and/or Connor Hughes a chance, so the Habs’ management can (at least somewhat) see what they actually have with these two goaltenders.
This is a story to follow closely.
