No surprise, there were long faces last night in the Montreal Canadiens’ locker room after the embarrassing defeat against the Seattle Kraken.
As is often the case after such a disappointing performance, the Canadiens’ press conferences were closely monitored, with a few memorable moments.
Mike Matheson, in particular, was very emotional.
«It’s so embarrassing. I’ll be able to answer your question tomorrow because I’m too angry right now.»
– Mike Matheson after the 8-2 loss
Martin St-Louis probably wasn’t emotional enough.
And finally, there was the young forward Juraj Slafkovsky, who conveyed his message directly in front of the journalists.
Is Juraj Slafkovsky starting to feel overwhelmed by the intense media pressure?
Notably, one of his responses last night after the game spoke volumes, and the way he said it clearly showed he was running out of patience.
Some even went so far as to call his attitude arrogant.
In any case, the young Slovak forward delivered his message quite directly.
Reporter: «Is there something you can identify why you’re unable to kinda maintain momentum sometimes?»
Juraj Slafkovsky: «No but I’m sure you guys will figure it out and will write about it, (about) what’s wrong. Right now, the wrong thing is that they scored 8 times on us & we have to figure (it) out. It doesn’t matter if we won two last games if something like this happens»
Say what you will about press conferences or certain comments (from players and coaches), but the real response will come tomorrow night against the Washington Capitals.
And you, do you still believe the Montreal Canadiens can «be in the mix» this season?
