Knowing that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are looking for a top-4 defenseman, it’s always interesting to gather information about one of the best available.
Ivan Provorov, 27 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 213-pound defenseman who was drafted seventh overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2015 (first round).
He has accumulated 255 points, including 71 goals, in 633 career games in the NHL and has the talent to become one of the best defensemen in the world.
This season, he has a +6 rating in Columbus and has recorded six points in 19 games.
According to TSN, Provorov is the number one target and the best defenseman currently available.
The price to acquire Ivan Provorov
Here’s what has been reported about Provorov:
In exchange, the Ohio team would like to obtain a first-round pick for the services of the 27-year-old player, who will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
“It seems that Ivan Provorov is the number one defenseman among rental players who will be traded before March 7,” Pierre LeBrun specified.
This will be a storyline to follow in the National Hockey League, and possibly in Montreal if Kent Hughes is ever able to offer him a new deal. (I am convinced he won’t be interested in acquiring a simple rental player at the moment)
Provorov currently earns $6.75 million per year, which is more than reasonable for a player of his caliber.
Further details to come.
