According to a report from the reputable Darren Dreger, four players from the Canadiens have indeed been placed on the NHL trade market.
Since the team is visibly falling into the sellers category as the trade deadline approaches, the phones are already starting to heat up.
But which players are involved?
Darren Dreger has named four logical candidates, including one name that I believe would be a mistake.
Christian Dvorak, David Savard, Jake Evans, and Joel Armia are officially available for a trade
On TSN 690, Dreger specifically highlights Dvorak, Savard, Evans, and Armia.
«Kent Hughes is listening to just about anything that would help the Canadiens. As we know, it’s more about the future, Dreger said.
You look at the players you mentioned and you think How would they fit in long-term?
Then you balance that with what the market is presenting and what might be offered for one of those players.» – Darren Dreger
Trading Jake Evans would be a mistake
As the TSN insider mentions, the Montreal Canadiens would be more hesitant to trade Jake Evans (and rightfully so, in my opinion).
I truly believe he can be part of the long-term solution!
The slightly frustrating point is that, with the season he’s having, the value of his next contract (due this summer) keeps rising and rising.
It’s eerily reminiscent of the Artturi Lehkonen case, and we know how that turned out.
Even in the case of David Savard, beyond what he brings on the ice, which is already a lot, he contributes so much to the team off the ice and in the locker room!
If it were your decision, what would you do with these four names?
