We have action on NHL waivers this Thursday afternoon.

It’s always interesting to follow for fans and supporters of the Montreal Canadiens because the team has priority over all players who become available for free.

With their 31st position in the NHL standings, tied with the Nashville Predators for last place, the Canadiens can virtually claim whoever they want.

Chris Wagner Available for Free and Placed on Waivers by the Colorado Avalanche

That said, today, veteran Chris Wagner is indeed available.

At 33 years old, Wagner is a gritty 6-foot, 192-pound forward who has long been considered one of the most valued fourth-line players in the NHL.

Drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the fifth round of the 2010 draft, Wagner has collected 66 points in 385 career NHL games so far, including 39 goals.

He’s played 12 games with the Colorado Avalanche this season and accumulated 14 points in 21 games during his most recent stint with their farm team.

It’s also worth noting that he’s signed for $775,000 until the end of the current season only.

Wagner is one of those players who has already been claimed on waivers a few times, so don’t be surprised if he’s picked up again tomorrow.

We’ll have the answer starting at 2:00 PM.

Stay tuned for updates on the Colorado Avalanche.

Also, note that this move seems to be related to the return of none other than Jonathan Drouin.
