Shortly after winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Anthony Edwards found himself at the center of controversy. This was due to his comments about Michael Jordan’s legacy and the competition in Jordan’s era. Notably, former NBA star Michael Jordan was vocal in his criticism of Edwards, while NBA legend Kevin Garnett stepped up to defend the young star.
Recently, Edwards faced new criticism from ESPN analysts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon on their show, Pardon the Interruption. Kornheiser strongly disapproved of Edwards’ comments, suggesting that he should have been more cautious with his words.
“He’s got to look at these people because he’s destroying NBA legends. This is a guy; he’s a talented player; he should have stopped with this quote: ‘I didn’t watch it; I can’t speak on it.’ That’s where he should have stopped, because you are putting generations of NBA stars and putting them in a trash heap. He sounds like a fool,” Kornheiser said.
Wilbon added to the critique, expressing frustration with the current generation’s perceived lack of appreciation for past players.
“Let me go further, and let me be old man; get off my lawn now. Nobody watches anymore. The people at networks don’t watch all they have is video in their damn hands 24/7, and apparently they can’t fix their eyes on it to watch what people did,” Wilbon said.
Anthony Edwards Misses Top 10 in NBA 2K25 Rankings
The highly anticipated NBA 2K25 video game is set for release next month. But Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will not be among the top 10 ranked players.
Although he failed to lead the Timberwolves to the NBA finals after they were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks, he averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game last season.
The players ranked ahead of Edwards include notable stars such as Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Joel Embiid, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis.
