The Green Bay Packers have suspended wide receiver Romeo Doubs following his deliberate absence from practice this week.
The WR will miss this Sunday’s Week 5 fixture against the Los Angeles Rams after failing to attend practice and meetings for two days.
The Packers initially claimed that the player was out for personal reasons, but a report from Sports Illustrated revealed that Doubs was unhappy with his involvement in the offense.
While Doubs nor his agent replied to messages, ESPN cites sources who claim that the player didn’t miss practice because of an injury or family issues.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said the wideout’s status was “day-to-day” after he was listed as doubtful on Friday.
The Packers Release A Statement on Romeo Doubs
“Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week’s game,” Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said.
“His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week.”
Romeo Doubs took part in the Packers’ first practice session on Wednesday this week. However, he did not show up on Thursday and was also absent on Friday, when reporters were allowed to come in and watch.
It’s unknown whether he showed up at the team’s facility on Saturday before their flight to California.
