For the first time in 13 years, the Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry’s Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, who signed with their conference rivals the Dallas Mavericks in the summer. The Warriors roped in the services of Buddy Hield as a replacement for Thompson. However, many believed Steve Kerr’s side required additional star power to form a big three with Curry and Draymond Green.

Recently, Draymond Green opened up about Jonathan Kuminga’s position in the upcoming season. He believed the 21-year-old lacks the skill to be a No. 4, which seemingly hinted that Green is not likely to give up his power forward position.

In his report, Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale claimed the Warriors require a second-best offensive player to become the championship contenders this season. Stephen Curry averaged a team-high 26.4 points for the Warriors last season, followed by Klay Thompson with 17.9 points per game.

Favale wrote, “The Warriors need someone with the present-day apex of ‘Second-best offensive player on a really good team.’ Perhaps Jonathan Kuminga or Brandin Podziemski ends up checking that box in due time. Counting on either to do so next season is all sorts of risky.”

Three-Team Trade Proposal Include The Warriors, Pelicans, and Trail Blazers

The NBA analyst claimed Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins can quickly adapt to any playing strategy while Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans is a better “shot-creator.” Favale included the Warriors, Pelicans, and Portland Trail Blazers in his trade proposal.

He wrote, “Golden State capitalizes on this divisive valuation here. Wiggins is more plug-and-play, but his contract no longer profiles as a net positive, and Ingram has the much better best-case outcome as a shot-creator and table-setter.”

According to the proposal, the Warriors receive Brandon Ingram and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, while the Pelicans acquire Portland’s Deandre Ayton, Moses Moody, and a top-eight protected 2025 first-round pick from the Warriors. The deal sends Warriors’ Wiggins and Gary Payton II to the Trail Blazers. If the deal works out, the Warriors will have their new Big Three in Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Brandon Ingram for the 2024-25 season.
