Derrick Rose, the youngest-ever NBA MVP, retired recently, causing heartbreak among basketball fans. The Chicago Bulls legend had a magical career until that one ACL injury that changed everything. Many believe he wasn’t the same after his return, but he kept inspiring more people. With his retirement, though, everyone questions his ‘Hall of Fame’ induction.

In a recent appearance on Run It Back, Chandler Parsons caused a stir with his interpretation of Derrick Rose’s Hall of Fame credentials. Despite praising Rose’s incredible influence in his peak, Parsons said that the former MVP does not meet the requirements for basketball immortality, citing two main factors: longevity and overall resume.

Parsons stated, “No, which is crazy. I think longevity and health, that’s going to matter and that’s going to hurt him. There’s a lot of other guys with kind of more accolades, more All-Stars, better resumes that aren’t in. But I wouldn’t be mad if he was.”

Parsons’ logic is based on the larger Hall of Fame scene, where a long brilliance history frequently carries much weight. Injuries restricted Derrick Rose’s performance and availability in later years, even though he wowed contemporaries and fans alike during his prime.

Rose’s legacy is still complicated because his career includes three All-Star appearances, an MVP award, and a nomination to the All-NBA First Team. Remarkably, Rose is one of just two league MVPs who have not yet been inducted into the Hall of Fame. The other is Nikola Jokic, who is still playing and will be when he is eligible.

A Quick Look At Derrick Rose’s Enticing Career

Derrick Rose played for five different NBA teams for the remainder of his career. He came off the bench for the majority of those games. The NBA community gradually began to accept Derrick Rose’s situation.

As fans watched him age into a veteran on the bench, they hoped that he would return in time and return to his best self. However, they knew that the moment would come when he would declare his retirement.

Rose did not leave us with anything, even though he did not resume his 25-point per night average. Derrick Rose scored a career-high 50 points in October 2018 before blocking the opponent’s last 3-point attempt to seal the victory.

Regretfully, Derrick Rose’s peak was cut short immediately following his outstanding first MVP season. After that, he played for five different NBA teams, expanding his already sizable fan following and significantly impacting basketball.
