Many Montreal Canadiens fans hope to see young Ivan Demidov arrive in Montreal as early as this season.
It’s worth noting that his usage with SKA is very questionable, and people are eager to see him within the Canadiens organization (for the sake of his development). However, everything suggests we’ll have to wait a little longer.
«According to what Marco D’Amico (RG) reports regarding the situation, there’s really no reason to expect SKA to facilitate the CH getting their prospect by April 2025, at the end of the season.
The Canadiens are aware of this but are powerless to change it.» – Charles-Alexis Brisebois
He’s been informed that he’ll have to remain in the KHL until the very end of his contract, with no possibility of accommodations.
Ivan Demidov will stay in the KHL until May, at the earliest
It’s expected that SKA will continue to put significant pressure on young Demidov until then to convince him to sign a new contract with SKA.
It’s truly unfortunate that the situation is unfolding this way, but at least Demidov appears determined to come to North America next season.
So, we can probably forget about the idea of seeing Demidov finish the season in Montreal. For now, though, all signs point to him being here next year.
In fact, the matter seems to rest in the hands of one individual, and unfortunately, that person doesn’t seem likely to budge.
«Demidov can only leave for the NHL if Roman Rotenberg agrees to terminate his contract through a mutual agreement.» – Marco D’Amico
It’s a situation to monitor, but knowing that Demidov is exclusively tied to SKA until mid-May, barring a major twist, it’s unlikely we’ll see him play this season.
Unless a miracle happens, the Canadiens will likely already be in their offseason by May. And what about you? Does this situation worry you?
