Fans all made the same joke after the New York Knicks signed free agent Matt Ryan to a deal this week.
ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news on Monday, citing sources who informed him of the move.
“The New York Knicks are signing shooter Matt Ryan to a deal this week, sources tell ESPN. The 6-foot-7 wing shot 45.1% from three-point range last season for the Pelicans,” he reported.
Given that the sharpshooter shares a name with an iconic NFL quarterback, the comments went as expected.
“The QB?” someone asked.
“NFL to NBA bro is gifted,” another commented.
“Good for the full court heave,” said a third.
“The Giants could also probably use a Matt Ryan tbh,” a comment read.
“Atlanta falcons fans kicking themselves,” someone joked.
“Doesn’t he play football?” a user asked.
“Better hope they never go up 28-3,” someone warned.
“He’s back for a ring,” another added.
“no way yall let the knicks get this demon 😭😭 it’s wraps for the rest of the league,” another comment read.
Matt Ryan Is A Respected Shooter Around The League
This version of Matt Ryan has not yet retired. Known for his shooting and ability to stretch the floor, Ryan was being looked out by several NBA teams before the Knicks swooped.
A stud in college who has had stints in both the NBA and the G League, the 27-year-old is respected around the league. It will be interesting to see what he brings to New York.
The Knicks have been keen on bolstering their bench after a slow start to the season and have made some good moves to that end this week. Let’s see how far they can go.
