Klay Thompson recently joined the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason after spending his entire 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors. Thompson chose to join the Mavericks after rejecting an offer from the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason. While this move is exciting for many fans, it is also disappointing for some. All of this has led to high expectations from fans for Thompson.

Fans were excited to see how Thompson would perform alongside star players Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in the 2024-25 NBA season. However, their hopes were dashed after the recent Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Clippers game. Thompson played for 21 minutes but did not score any points. He only contributed one assist and three rebounds.

While a few games may not be enough to assess a player’s ability in a new team accurately, some fans have already begun criticizing Thompson. Following a recent post by Legion Hoops on X (formerly Twitter), many fans started making hilarious jokes about the four-time NBA champion. One fan humorously commented, “Klay Thompson without Curry.”

Meanwhile, another fan mentioned, “He would’ve had a better performance on the bench.”

Another fan commented, “This dude is so washed.”

A sports fan made a joke about Thompson by sharing a funny video with the caption: “The ring every time it sees Klay shoot the ball.”

Another fan reacted, “The jokes write themselves.”

Another fan commented, “Maybe Klay needs glasses.”

A basketball enthusiast said, “Cooked.”

Klay Thompson Aims For NBA Championship Over Personal Honors

Thompson demonstrated impressive skills during his tenure with the Warriors. Teaming up with star players Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, he secured four championships. However, his performance during the last NBA season with the Warriors was disappointing, prompting him to enter free agency. Now in the new NBA preseason and playing for a different team, Thompson is determined to pursue another championship without focusing on personal accolades.

My personal goals are to be great and to help this team win. I don’t think about numbers or accolades or anything. And I really don’t, especially 14 years in. I had enough of those,” Thompson recently told Mark Medina of Sportskeeda.

Thompson is set to play in the next preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks. It will be interesting to see if he can silence the critics with a dominating performance.
