Saquon Barkley has been one of the biggest stories of the NFL off-season. After being drafted by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2018 NFL Entry Draft, he signed with rival Philidelphia Eagles.
Barkley signed a 3-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles in free agency, causing some stir among NFL fans who claimed the former Giants star ball carrier was a traitor. However, there was plenty of motivation behind the move.
The Giants’ inability to compete was one of the significant factors in the move; however, according to the RB himself, Barkley may think that the Eagles will no longer be competitive after a post to his Instagram story.
In a screenshot uploaded to X by user MLFootball, Barkley’s post on his story reads, “Before anyone else reports it, I want you to hear it from me first. I’m about to join a new franchise… again. Big announcement tomorrow.”
Saquon Barkley Could Be Joining A New Franchise, And Philly Fans Are Not Happy
One fan clearly isn’t happy with the post after commenting that the star running back could stay loyal to the Eagles, while another NFL fan joked that he was headed back to New York to join the Giants.
Other fans were quick to point out that the message was just posted to promote a new brand deals. One fan put it, “gotta be a branding deal,” while another fan added “It’s a branding deal,” while calling the Eagles star smart.
So far, neither of the two has been confirmed by either Barkley or the Eagles. However, it seems more likely that he will join a new brand. It would be a very big story if he were to change teams, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
