Jaxson Hayes is under investigation by the NBA after footage emerged of a disturbing domestic violence encounter from 2021.
Disturbing domestic violence video of Lakers star probes NBA investigation

Jaxson Hayes is under investigation by the NBA

Los Angeles Lakers star Jaxson Hayes is in hot water. The Lakers star has been placed under investigation by the NBA after disturbing footage emerged of the 24-year-old. Video footage emerged of Hayes and his ex-girlfriend in the middle of a confrontation.

Unfortunately, the altercation took a turn for the worse quickly with Hayes turning violent. TMZ released previously unseen footage of an almost five-and-a-half-minute-long confrontation between Jaxson Hayes and his ex, Sofia Jamora.

The footage shows Hayes banging on a door which was reportedly broken down, while engaging in a bitter verbal encounter. Soon, the incident turned violent with Hayes shoving Jamora and walking away, before turning around to spit on her.

The previously unseen footage has prompted the NBA to reopen an investigation into the allegations placed on Hayes. He was previously arrested in 2021 on the same night after the LAPD received a distress call from Jamora.

Hayes was then involved in a scuffle with law enforcement at the scene. The ensuing scuffle resulted in an officer being thrown to a wall by the 7-foot NBA star before being tased and arrested.

An investigation into the use of excessive force was also opened by the LAPD against the first responders. Hayes pled no contest to the charges placed on him, and in 2022 was sentenced to 3 years probation and 450 hours of community service.

Jaxson Hayes’ future uncertain as NBA reopens investigation

The NBA has been very strict about its no-tolerance policy with regard to domestic violence. Following the footage released by TMZ, the NBA was forced to take up the case of Jaxson Hayes once again.

As a result of the media report and video posted this morning, we are reopening our investigation.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement

When the case initially came to light in 2021, the NBA had kept a watchful eye on the legal proceedings. However, after Hayes’ sentence in 2022, the NBA decided to not punish the young star. He floated around before being signed by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023 on a two-year $4.6 Million contract.

Hayes has played an important role in the Lakers to begin the season. He has provided solid backup minutes to Anthony Davis allowing the Lakers’ dominant big man to steal some rest during games. With the fresh investigation into Hayes, and the damning footage, the Lakers and their fans will be worried about a possible suspension.
