Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson appeared to walk off the field in the third quarter of their game against the Washington Commanders.
It was a bad look for a quarterback who continues to struggle since signing a massive contract with the team years ago following a trade from the Houston Texans.
The broadcast stated head coach Kevin Stefanski wanted to go for it on 4th and Goal.
However, with the play clock winding down, Watson walked off the field towards the sideline, prompting a reaction from Stefanski, who was simply in disbelief over what had just happened. He removed his headset in frustration before covering his mouth and speaking to his quarterback.
After the game, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski explained to reporters that Deshaun Watson walking off had more to do with the blunder his team had just made on the field that ruined the chance to go for it.
‘We had the wrong amount of people in the huddle, and then at that point, we were just going to kick the field goal,’ he said.
‘Obviously we had penalties and some miscommunications which are completely on me. I’ll take responsibility for all of that. That looks like losing football to me, I’ll get it fixed.’
When it was pointed out that the Browns had 12 men on the field several times, Stefanski conceded, ‘It is really frustrating. We will get that fixed. Before we beat anybody (else), you have to stop beating yourself. We need to play better as an offense, we need to coach better as an offense.’
Despite that blunder, Deshaun Watson was once again not good in Sunday’s game.
Deshaun Watson Has Yet To Live Up To His Terrible Contract
Deshaun Watson reached a new low in the Browns’ loss to the Commanders.
The Cleveland Browns fell to 1-4 with a loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday after yet another dispiriting performance by him.
Watson finished the day completing 53.4% of his passes for 125 yards, one touchdown, and one fumble lost.
On the season, Watson has yet to throw for over 200 yards in any game and has thrown just five touchdowns to three interceptions.
He has also been sacked a mind-boggling 26 times, including seven times on Sunday.
The fully guaranteed contract he received from the team is looking worse and worse by the week.
