We witnessed a very concerning scene in the QMJHL last night during the matchup between the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Cape Breton Eagles.

Young Armada defenseman Samuel Kupec had to leave the game on a stretcher and was immediately transported to the hospital.

Kupec lay on the ice for more than 10 minutes, unable to move. You can imagine that everyone held their breath, and those were 10 long, very anxious minutes.

Terrible Scene Involving Young Samuel Kupec

We will not publish the images out of respect for the young player, but let’s say that all eyes are on Kupec today and his health status.

Another QMJHL player was taken off on a stretcher tonight, Samuel Kupec from the Armada. The latest news is that he was moving his extremities, which is a good sign, but we don’t know more than that.

According to Stephane Leroux, the whole sequence started when Samuel Kupec was hit from behind by Angelo Fullerton.

The good news is that young Kupec seems to be improving this morning, although, of course, he is not expected to be in uniform for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for some time.

Samuel Kupec, 18 years old, is a left-handed defenseman standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 212 pounds. He has four points in 19 games this season with the Armada (14 penalty minutes and a +1 rating) in his first QMJHL campaign, after playing in Slovakia over the past two years.

We are thinking of him and wishing him a quick recovery.
