A 20-year-old Wisconsin father has been charged with child abuse and child neglect following accusations of throwing his eight-month-old son into a wall.
According to online jail records, Jalin White was arrested on said charges after Milwaukee police responded to a report of possible child abuse at a local hospital last week.
White was left in charge of the infant while the mother was out and was apparently frustrated following a close loss at the end of an ‘NBA 2K’ game. Per WISN, a complaint states he angrily threw him into a wall after the loss.
The baby was initially reported to have suffered a swollen eye, as well as hand and leg injuries. Subsequent scans revealed fractured ribs, a skull fracture, and a broken collarbone.
It’s also believed that the child had been previously abused as he bore other injuries in different stages of healing.
“The Defendant was down 2 points in the fourth quarter of the game and became frustrated while holding JW, ultimately throwing JW against the wall,” the complaint reads.
Jalin White Tried Blaming The Baby’s Mother Before Admitting His ‘NBA 2K’ Frustrations
White is understood to have given the police different stories – including one in which he blamed the mother for dropping the child during a diaper change – before admitting to throwing his son into the wall due to frustrations with his performance in the game.
“He hit his head hard on the wall, bro,” he said in his confession. “I heard the wall, it was hard on his head. I heard the impact of the wall after I tossed him.”
White made his first appearance in court on Saturday.
“This is a severe level of violence for an innocent infant child,” ADA Madeline Witte, who is prosecuting the case, said.
