A guest who appeared on the latest episode of The Repair Shop was left absolutely blown away after her harp was completely transformed.

Tears were flowing during the latest instalment of The Repair Shop as epic transformation left a guest emotional.

On Wednesday’s edition of the popular BBC programme, Lilian Russell from Newry in Northern Ireland was the first guest to present the first her harp to new experts Alex and Nigel Tree.

This father-son duo were taken aback when they learnt that this particular harp was built by Lilian’s father, a complete novice, in his field.

As a young girl, Lilian always wanted a harp, but due to financial constraints, her family couldn’t afford one. So, her father, Jimmy, took it upon himself to build one using a book he borrowed from the library.

Lilian was heartbroken when the harp her father crafted for her was damaged during a house move, resulting in cracks in the casing and a wobbly base. Alex and Nigel’s work was cut of them as they tried to restore the harp to its former glory.

Lilian also wanted to be able to play the harp again and relearn the fantastic instrument her father made.

Later on in the show, the guest couldn’t believe the restoration when she returned back to The Repair Shop studio. The harp was looking as good as new as Lilian was left in tears.

Talking openly to the experts, she said: “I can let go of the guilt and just be proud now to have it.

But this wasn’t the only suprise in store for Lilian, as the experts also brought in a professional harpist to play for her.

Gobsmacked by the music, Lilian broke down in tears. Commenting on the scenes, fans headed over to X to share their thoughts.

One viewer said: “The harp is a cool instrument #therepairshop.” Another jokingly wrote: “Wonder if the lady from Derry had to pull any strings to have her harp repaired.”

While a third added: “That harp looks in surprisingly good condition for before restoration.”
