Jennifer Lopez tried to manage husband Ben Affleck’s bad moods for a long time, it has been claimed.

On Tuesday People reported that the 55-year-old Atlas actress – who filed for divorce last week – spent a great deal of time trying to look after her 52-year-old spouse and was like a mother to him.

The site added that he often got ‘frustrated’ and went to a ‘dark place’ even though he had a beautiful wife and three children with ex Jennifer Garner.

Jennifer did spend a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed,’ the insider told the publication.

It was also added that Ben was more like her son than her mate, even though she is only three years older than him. ‘The way she cared for him was almost childlike,’ the source continued.

And her pals urged her to stop because pumping up his moods was not her job. ‘Friends constantly reminded her that she’s not responsible for his feelings,’ it was added.

‘He’s very moody and dark at times.’

But Lopez is the opposite of that, it was claimed: ‘Jennifer appreciates life in another way. She’s very grateful for everything.’

Indeed, she used to have a painting that read Gratitude Attitude in her home.

Another source close to Garner told the site that he ‘has never handled stress well.’

‘He doesn’t have good coping skills. He gets easily frustrated and tends to be moody. When he’s relaxed and in a good mood, it’s amazing to be around him,’ the source claimed. ‘But more often, he’s upset or frustrated.’

‘Many times, it’s just something small that he gets stuck on,’ the source added.

‘He really doesn’t understand how his bad mood affects people around him. It’s just not fun being around that kind of negativity.’

These days Affleck is happy to be single.

‘He thrives when he has work projects. He’s been great when it comes to the kids too. He’s doing exactly what he wants. He seems very happy,’ said the source.

People magazine also alleged that the lovebirds grew apart because of ‘distance’ as she traveled so much for work.

Lopez was busy nonstop after the two got back together in 2021.

The Grammy winning beauty was involved with a total of eight movies after she promised to be his faithful wife – she starred in and produced all of them and even made music for the films.

In addition to all that, she shot a Coach campaign, promoted her JLO Beauty line, launched Delola and created new music.

Then there are the fashion shows in Paris, the Met Gala events, a trip to Dubai, and collaborations with companies like Revolve.

The two got back together in 2021 after 20 years apart and wed in August 2022 in Georgia after a quickie Las Vegas elopement.

But Jenny From The Block never seemed to slow down to let the love grow. He should have known she would be busy, however, as she has always said she loves to work.

The Bronx native spent plenty of time promoting her 2022 film Marry Me with events in LA and NYC.

She costarred with Owen Wilson in the love story and had music to go with it too.

Next came Shotgun Wedding with Josh Duhamel, also in 2022. She worked hard to drum up interest in that project that she also produced.

In 2023, she worked on The Mother.

But the most work came from pushing This Is Me… Now and the docu The Greatest Love Story Never Told earlier this year.

And there was yet another project for her to plug: Atlas, a scifi film.

There is more: Lopez also filmed Unstoppable, Ben’s film with pal Matt Damon; the premiere is in September in Toronto.

And she also filmed his upcoming movie Kiss Of The Spider Woman earlier this year.

She planned a summer tour, but canceled it to focus on her family.

The star’s work took her to New York City about a dozen times in the past few years and there were several trips to Europe as well and a stop in Dubai.

But even with her hectic schedule, ‘she tried really hard to make things work,’ a source told People and now she has ‘sadness’ over the end of the marriage.

His ‘mood swings’ didn’t help either.

Next up for Jennifer: She will promote his film Unstoppable in Toronto.

Jennifer stars in Unstoppable – which was produced by Ben – and it’s set to debut at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on September 6.
