BBC presenter Alex Jones recently returned to *The One Show* after a brief hiatus, sparking health concerns among viewers who noticed her hoarse and “croaky” voice. 

The 47-year-old host had taken some time off from her regular role on the popular evening program after battling the flu.

Despite her upbeat demeanor and positive words during the show, viewers were quick to notice that she was not fully recovered.

Opening the show with a warm greeting, Jones addressed the audience,

“Hello there and welcome to your Thursday One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer with Roman Kemp.”

However, her co-host, Roman Kemp, was quick to comment on her voice, adding, “And a very croaky Alex Jones.” Jones, who was clearly still struggling with her illness, apologized for any potential coughing throughout the broadcast, saying, “Sorry if I cough through this.”

When asked if she was feeling better, Jones assured viewers, “I am feeling loads better,” despite her raspy voice and occasional coughing.

While her presence was appreciated by her fans, many took to social media to express concern about her health.

Her young son, Kit, was rushed to the hospital, prompting her to take time off to be by his side.

Jones shared a photo on Instagram of Kit in a hospital bed, where his face was covered, as he received care from a nurse.

While she didn’t disclose the exact reason for his hospitalization, she did express gratitude for the “amazingly kind and gentle staff” who helped her son during the ordeal.

Thankfully, Kit’s condition improved, and Jones later reassured her followers that he was doing well.

On social media, Jones updated fans on her son’s recovery, explaining that her absence from the show was necessary for family reasons. She also posted a picture of herself with a relieved smile, stating, “Such a relief that it’s done!

Needless to say, I won’t be on @bbctheoneshow later, but @laurenlaverne and @gabbylogan will look after you.” Gabby Logan stepped in as Jones’ temporary replacement, co-hosting with Lauren Laverne in her stead.

Outside of health and family matters, Alex Jones has had some other significant life changes in recent months. In late 2024, she took a brief leave from the show due to a move out of London.

After living in the same home for 11 years, Jones and her husband, Charlie Thomson, decided to relocate to a new house for the sake of their growing family.

Jones, who has two sons, Kit and Teddy, as well as a daughter born in 2021, expressed the emotional nature of the move on social media. In a video posted in July, she explained, “After 11 years, we are MOVING HOUSE. Would love any packing tips you have?”

During the video, Jones appeared somewhat sentimental as she prepared for the big change. “I’m finding it a little bit emotional,” she shared with her followers.

The decision to leave her longtime home was part of a broader desire to find a better environment for their children to grow up in, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
