BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay took a tongue-in-cheek swipe at TV rivals while marking the start of 2025.

The 55-year-old BBC star reflected on the past 12 months in a social media post.

Taking to Instagram, Jon wrote: “It is the biggest privilege to do this job.

“And – looking back through my photo-reel – I can’t quite believe how much we’ve packed into this year…

“I know how incredibly lucky I am to work with such brilliant colleagues, to cover extraordinary stories in fascinating places and to meet the most inspiring people.”

He joked: “THANK-YOU for joining us in your millions every day and for making BBC Breakfast the most-watched morning show in the UK (with double the audience of anyone else #justsayin).

“Every single one of you is a member of the #bbcbreakfast family.

“THANK-YOU to the thousands of guests who have chosen our red sofa as the place to share their stories and expertise this year.

“Thank you for trusting us.”

Jon finished by writing: “And a personal THANK-YOU to our magnificent editorial, technical and support teams.

“They work their socks off through the night – to create programmes I’m super-proud to be a part of.

“Wishing every one of you a happy and healthy 2025. Jx.”

Jon regularly presents Breakfast alongside Sally Nugent, from Monday to Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty take over from Thursday to Saturday.
