BBC Breakfast’s Ben Thompson was forced to apologise to Carol Kirkwood after he made his own weather predictions on the show on Tuesday morning
BBC Breakfast presenter Ben Thompson had to say sorry to weather expert Carol Kirkwood after offering his own weather forecast. Confidently predicting post-Bank Holiday sunshine, Ben mused: “So now that the Bank Holiday weekend is over, the weather is getting really good.”
This prompted a chuckle from co-host Sally Nugent and himself as he added: “Carol can tell us more, good morning.”
However, Carol swiftly set the record straight and warned: “That is not the forecast by the way,” before delivering the real weather details.
After Carol completed her report, a red-faced Ben admitted: “This is why we leave it to the professionals, Carol. That is much more accurate after my terrible forecast, I am sorry.”
To which Carol, finding amusement in the situation, responded: “Bless you, Ben,” and the ever-apologetic Ben rounded off with: “See you soon,” reports the Express.

Meanwhile, excitement buzzed on the show as Ben and Sally talked about an anticipated announcement from Oasis set for 8am, with fans eager to possibly hear about Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first tour dates in three decades. Yet, some viewers expressed their discontent with Sally and Ben allocating a significant chunk of the programme to this piece of news.
One unimpressed viewer voiced, “Another no news day #BBCBreakfast,” while another commented with a hint of frustration, “Please stop talking about Oasis, you said it all yesterday.”
During a recent episode of BBC Breakfast, presenter Ben Thompson found himself in hot water after attempting to make his own weather predictions in front of seasoned meteorologist Carol Kirkwood.
