VIDEO: Michael Strahan Finally Breaks His Silence After Facing Massive Backlash Over ‘Disrespectful’ And ‘Cowardly’ Actions During National Anthem
Michael Strahan has finally had enough of the backlash, as many folks have called for him to be fired over his actions during the National Anthem.
Strahan is finally speaking out following his decision not to place his hand over his heart at the San Diego Naval Base ahead of Veterans Day.
It all began on Sunday during a Fox NFL Sunday broadcast in honor of Veterans Day when thousands of fans witnessed him placing his hands in front of him while his co-stars had hands over their hearts while the National Anthem played.
It caused an uproar on social media.
Newsmax commentator Todd Starnes even tweeted out: “Michael Strahan disrespected the military during a Veterans Day pre-game show on NFL on FOX.”
Strahan finally had enough and took to social media to address what happened while delivering an apology.
“I wanna address what happened this past weekend, and I feel like I need to address it, because it spilled over to the point where I’d get out of my car today, and I’m ambushed by a media outlet here at my house,” the “Good Morning America” co-host began.
Michael Strahan admitted he was “not proud of the way [he] handled that whole situation.”
Strahan then spoke on people thinking that he was protesting.
“I didn’t have my hand over my chest,” he recalled. “Everyone thought, ‘He’s protesting, he’s making a statement,’ which is so far from the truth. I have nothing to protest. I have no statement to be made. The only statement that should be made and that I wanna make is that I love the military. I’ve always loved the military, and I will always love the military.”
Furious Michael Strahan Addressed Snatching Phone From Videographer
Michael Strahan threw a reporter’s phone in a bush after being asked about his national anthem controversy.
He was not happy about being confronted.
Strahan could be seen snatching the device when he saw the journalist waiting outside of his New York City home on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Strahan spoke on the National Anthem controversy, but the Hall of Fame NFL player also addressed snatching a videographer’s phone and tossing it into a bush outside of his home.
“You gotta protect your family, and you gotta protect your home, which is what I felt like I needed to do in that moment,” he said.
