VIDEO: Russell Wilson Announces Final Decision On His NFL Career After Wild-Card Loss
Russell Wilson’s 2024 campaign ended on a sour note on Saturday night.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers organization man, it’s been such a blessing to be here, he sad in part.
“The guys that we have, the organization is truly first class. Love the city, obviously, what it means, not just to me and [wife] Ciara and our family, but just also the National Football League, it’s a special place with special guys and we got a special coach in Coach Tomlin,” Wilson said, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Wilson and the Steelers came up short in a 28-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night at M&T Bank Stadium and were eliminated from the playoffs.
Russell Wilson completed 20 of 29 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns, with 226 yards, and both scores came in the second half as the team failed to score a single point in the first half.
The Steelers attempted to rally from a three-touchdown halftime deficit, but the defense simply could not stop the Ravens.
“It was like our play — wasn’t good enough,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said of Wilson’s performance. “I just love the spirit in which he continued to fight, the way he led the group out of the locker room after the half. But, certainly, none of us were good enough tonight.”
Wilson also had three carries for 6 yards and was sacked four times for minus-19 yards.
Where Does Russell Wilson Go From Here?
Russell Wilson says he hopes to play again for the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2024 season ended with a Saturday night wild-card loss to the Ravens.
The Steelers roster is set for some significant change this offseason, especially after the team collapsed late in the year.
Wilson is now one of more than a dozen free agents, including quarterback Justin Fields, with whom the Steelers could part ways this offseason.
He only signed a one-year veteran minimum deal to join the Steelers for the 2024 campaign.
The Steelers will need to consider whether they will bring him and Fields back.
