Nobody has it better than Pete Alonso right now in Major League Baseball.

With one swing of the bat, the New York Mets slugger went from an underperforming star to a postseason hero as he saved the team’s season.

Trailing 2–0 in the ninth inning with two runners on base, the Mets were two outs away from elimination.

At the same time, a random New York Mets fan was in the cheap seats of American Family Field watching the action.

During the intense moment, the fan and his friends decided to start recording a phone call.

The Mets fan could be heard saying, “Three-run homer. Mets take the lead.”

The call from the future was insane because 12 seconds later, Pete Alonso launched a ninth-inning home run into Milwaukee’s night that led to a miraculous Mets comeback.

The 4-2 win sent the Mets to the National League Division Series while sending the Brewers home for the offseason. The Mets will play the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies, who they saw 13 teams during the regular season.

Pete Alonso Launching Home Run Made History In Two Ways

The late comeback stopped the Mets from making bad history, but it also made good history.

After winning Game One, the Mets were on the cusp of being the first team to lose a best-of-three series in the Wild Card round for the first time in history.

Instead, Pete Alonso hitting that game-winner had them becoming the first team in MLB history to clinch a postseason spot in a win and win a playoff series BOTH via games in which they faced a deficit in the 9th inning or later.
