VIDEO: Nick Saban Was Visibly Pissed At Shane Gillis After Comedian Made Brutal Cheating Joke On Live TV
Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban didn’t find it funny at all after comedian and podcaster Shane Gillis jokingly branded him a cheat during ‘College GameDay’ on Friday.
Gillis joined the panel ahead of the weekend’s playoff action and would take a playful swipe at Saban while discussing Notre Dame’s title chances.
“With Notre Dame it’s always like, ‘Here’s the big game, let’s hopefully win it,’” he said. “This feels, feels different. It feels like we can win it. There’s some parody. Now that everybody can pay their players Notre Dame has a shot. It’s not just the SEC it’s not just Coach [Nick] Saban.”
“I don’t think the SEC paid players ever,” he said later on, sarcastically, of course.
Nick Saban Had The Perfect Response
Saban was not amused, especially after Gillis called him “Alabama Jones” because of the hat he was wearing, and went on to explain exactly how Alabama cheated while he was in charge of the Crimson Tide.
“I do believe in integrity,” he replied. “I just tried to run the program that way so players had a better chance to be successful in life. We made more money in the NFL than any other school. Sixty-one players in the league. That was how we cheated. We developed players.”
The comeback forced Gillis to apologize.
“For real, I’m so sorry,” he said.
That’ll teach him.
