Fans are torn over the latest report on NFL superstar Partick Mahomes wanting to bring a WNBA team to Kansas City. Women’s Hoop Network posted on X, formerly Twitter, that according to ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback wants to bring a team to the city.

However, the news was not received positively by the fans on social media. A large number of fans commented against the three-time Super Bowl champion in light of his wife, Brittany Mahomes and his mother, Randi Mahomes’ support for Republican candidate Donald Trump in the 2024 US Election.

Commenting on the post, one of the fans took a shot at the NFL quarterback and wrote that there should be no ‘Make America Great Again’ owners in the WNBA.

“NO MAGA OWNERS IN THE WNBA!” a fan wrote.

Some fans loved the idea of bringing a team to Kansas City. However, they asked him to keep his politics out of it.

“Great idea Patrick. Please don’t allow your mother or wife to be involved. It’ll be very difficult to recruit players to the team. Everyone is tired of the Jerry Jones effects. Change is needed in pro sports team ownership. Be the difference,” a fan wrote.

“It’s great for the WNBA and the players. They need to keep their MAGA shit out of the league though,” a fan wrote.

“That would be cool as long as he keeps his politics out of it. There are a lot of maga team owners in most of NFL and NBA, truth to be told,” another fan wrote.

Alluding to former Republican party senator Kelly Loeffler, who was once the owner of the Atlanta Dream but was later forced to sell her share in light of her opinions on Black Lives Matter, some of the fans hilariously trolled Mahomes saying that he should know about Loeffner.

“Bro is gonna get Atlanta Dreamed so quick as owner lol,” a fan wrote.

“Nope. Tell him to revisit Kelly Loeffler’s tenure with the W. This would be a mistake for everyone,” another fan wrote.

There were also some fans who supported Mahomes and wrote that it was a great idea.

“Right on Patrick!!!” the fan wrote.

Jayson Tatum reportedly interested WNBA expansion

One of the biggest names in the NBA who has emerged in the light of WNBA expansion is Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum. According to a latest report, the defending NBA champion is interested in a W team in St. Louis, his hometown as a part of the expansion.

According to Sportico, the Celtics star has expressed his interest in investing to the group investors as well as the league itself.

According to the new NBA collective bargaining agreement that was signed last year, an NBA player can have a part-ownership of a WNBA team. However, the CBA allows only a maximum of 4% ownership.
