Following a historic 2024 campaign, A’ja Wilson took home MVP honors for the third time in her WNBA career. Coming off this impressive feat, the Las Vegas Aces star was given high praise by multiple people in and around professional basketball.

Wilson came out of the gates in dominant fashion and never looked back. Even with the Aces taking a slight dip in the standings, there was no denying that she was the best player in the league this season. Wilson appeared in 38 out of 40 games in the regular season and averaged 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks.

On Monday night, A’ja Wilson posted a series of photos on her Instagram with the MVP trophy. Fans and notable people alike flooded the comment section to congratulate her. Among those to do so include Russell Westbrook’s wife Nina and Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso. Both had similar remarks, labeling Wilson the GOAT of the WNBA.

Wilson excelled in many areas of the game this season, but her scoring was one thing that stood out the most. She became the first player in WNBA history to record 1,000+ points in a single season. Some of Wilson’s biggest offensive eruptions include going for 42 points against the Dallas Wings and posting 41 points against the Phoenix Mercury.

A’ja Wilson sends out heartfelt message following MVP win

Winning MVP at any level is a hard feat in itself, let alone doing so by unanimous decision. After securing the hardware, A’ja Wilson took to social media to send out a heartfelt message.

Early Monday morning, Wilson took to X (formerly Twitter) to give out multiple thank yous to fans and friends. She wanted the world to know how appreciative she was of all the people who went out of their way to congratulate her on an incredible season.

Now that she’s secured the MVP, A’ja Wilson’s focus must be on the bigger task at hand. That being helping the Las Vegas Aces defend their title and complete a three-peat. If they can accomplish this, they’ll be just the second team in WNBA history to do so.

On Sunday, the Aces had their first game of the 2024 postseason. Facing off against the Seattle Storm, they managed to take a\ 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series. Vegas won by double-digits, securing a 78-67 victory.

As expected, Wilson led the charge for the Aces on both ends of the floor. In 36 minutes of action, she posted a stat line of 21 points, eight rebounds, two assists and five blocks. The Aces will be back in action Tuesday night with a chance to punch their ticket to the second round.
