REPORT: Donald Trump Agrees To Perform Significant Super Bowl Tradition That Joe Biden Boycotted

President Donald Trump is set to make history by becoming the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl. He will be present at Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans, where the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles.

Joe Biden and Donald Trump look on at event.

In addition to attending the game, President Trump has agreed to participate in a pre-recorded interview with Fox News’ chief political anchor, Bret Baier. This interview will air during Fox’s pregame coverage around 3:00 p.m. EST on Super Bowl Sunday.

This move revives a tradition of presidential interviews during Super Bowl pregame shows, which had been paused during President Joe Biden’s administration. Notably, President Biden declined such interviews in 2023 and 2024.

Security measures in New Orleans will be significantly heightened due to President Trump’s attendance, especially in light of a recent attack on Bourbon Street.

President Trump’s relationship with the NFL has been complex. During his first term, he was vocal about players kneeling during the national anthem, urging team owners to fire those who protested. In 2018, after many Philadelphia Eagles players indicated they would not attend a White House celebration following their Super Bowl win, President Trump rescinded the team’s invitation.

As of now, President Trump has not publicly indicated which team he will support during the game. However, he has previously congratulated the Kansas City Chiefs on their achievements and has had a contentious relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles.
