Caitlin Clark’s rookie season ended earlier this week, but that doesn’t mean she’ll stay away from the hardwood. While she announced her desire to get on the golf course and focus on that sport for this offseason, Clark made her way to Hinkle Fieldhouse to support her boyfriend Connor McCaffery. He takes on the challenge of being an assistant coach for the Butler Bulldogs.

Clark was low-key casual at open practice, as can be seen in the photo making the rounds on X.

McCaffery, 26, had previously worked with the Indiana Pacers as a basketball development coordinator, where he seemingly created meaningful relationships. Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton showed support to McCaffery when the program announced his hire, sharing an Instagram story with several fire emojis.

Connor McCaffery is replacing former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden, as he decided to focus on his business ventures. After a college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, McCaffery decided to stay close to basketball with a different role.

Butler head coach Thad Matta had nothing but good things to say about Connor, calling him a valuable addition to his staff.

“Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA,” Matta said (per Butler Sports).

“Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I’m excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run.”

Caitlin Clark details offseason plans

After playing over 80 basketball games in 324 days, Caitlin Clark has earned herself some vacation time. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year had to deal with plenty of things during the season and now wants to try her hand at golf.

“Maybe play some golf,” Clark said (h/t Indiana Fever reporter Chloe Peterson on X). “That’s what I’m gonna do until it gets cold in Indiana … I’ll become a professional golfer.”

After a terrific stint with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark landed in the WNBA as the No. 1 overall pick, carrying huge expectations. She made an immediate impact in terms of viewership and attendance, but it took a while for her to get the hang of the league and play close to her best version.

She ended up having a record-breaking season that ended with the ROY award and even a couple of MVP votes.
