PHOTO: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Was Caught “Liking” Interesting Post About Raiders Firing HC Antonio Pierce
On Tuesday, the Raiders announced that they had fired Antonio Pierce following a dismal 4-13 season. Pierce was named the new head coach a year ago after leading Vegas to a 5-4 finish as the interim HC in 2023.
ESPN’s Instagram account posted about Pierce’s firing after NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news. And fans noticed that Patrick Mahomes “liked” the post:
This activity by Mahomes is especially fascinating when you recall Pierce’s comments about the Chiefs’ superstar quarterback last year. Speaking on Maxx Crosby’s podcast, Pierce said the Raiders would use the “Patrick Mahomes rules” similar to the so-called “Jordan Rules” the Detroit Pistons used against Michael Jordan:
“We’ve got the Jordan rules and we’ve got what I’m calling now, from now on as long as I’m here, the Patrick Mahomes rules. You remember when Jordan was going through it with the Pistons, all those guys in the ’80s before he became Michael Jordan, Air Jordan, the Pistons used to whip his a**. Any time he came to the hole, elbows, feeling him, love taps. We’re in his head, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, I’m touching you. So I showed my guys Jordan getting his ass whooped.”
Pierce made a strong case to retain the HC duties when he helped the Raiders to a stunning Christmas Day victory in Kansas City last year. The Raiders also finished with a top-10 defense for the first time since 2002, but they failed to carry that momentum over to 2024.

But the last laugh goes to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who cruised to the AFC’s top seed again with a 15-2 record. They now require just home victories to reach the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six years.
Patrick Mahomes & Chiefs Aim To Complete First Super Bowl Three-Peat
No NFL franchise has won three straight Super Bowls, and the 2000-02 Los Angeles Lakers are the last team in the “big four” North American professional sports leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB) to complete a three-peat.
But Mahomes and the Chiefs are already two-thirds of the way from completing the historic Super Bowl three-peat. They struggled with consistency throughout the regular season, but no team is more experienced and battle-tested in big game moments.
