Nelly’s ‘Possessed’ Performance Gets Spoofed By Lil Fizz & Spice Adams
Nelly’s recent bizarre performance has spawned a few spoofs from Lil Fizz and Spice Adams.
The performance in question, which was caught on camera by a fan in Melbourne, Australia, captured the County Grammar star caressing his microphone as he sang his 2004 hit “Over and Over.”
One Twitter user speculated he was “possessed” as his eyes could be seen rolling back into his head as he made strange hand gestures.
Nelly’s antics went viral, and Lil Fizz and Spice Adams made some hilarious renditions of the moment, with Nelly even reacting to the latter’s tribute.
“@nelly!!! You know you my man 50 Grand!!!” Adams wrote on Instagram while parodying the performance. “But They said I HAD to do it!!!!! I didn’t want to!! I said Derrty is my manz!!! They wouldn’t have it !! They made me do it!! #SpiceGot24Hours”
Nelly reacted to the video on his Instagram Stories with numerous laughing emojis.
The hilarious moment comes after another performance of Nelly’s made headlines when he and Ashanti were seen getting sensual on stage together.
The former couple hit the stage together as part of Power 98.3 and Power 96.1‘s “Under The Mistletoe” concert series in Glendale, Arizona on December 4, where the “Happy” singer was seen grinding on her former flame while they performed their 2008 collaboration “Body On Me.”
The steamy moment gave rise to speculation that the two hitmakers, who famously dated on-and-off for 11 years in the 2000s and early 2010s, might still have feelings for each other — or at least many fans hoped that was the case.
Ashanti later clarified in an interview with Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that while they are definitely not dating, she and Nelly are in a “better place” than they were following their public break-up in 2014.
“I saw a lot of comments,” she said. “My reaction was ‘Wow’, you know? It was a lot of comments and a lot of people wanting that. What I will say is we’re in a better place, because before it was like [*makes punching movements] but, you know, we’re cool now… We had some conversations so it was cool.”
When asked by Cohen if a romantic reunion was off the table, Ashanti merely shrugged and seemed to say she didn’t know.
Nelly Sees Red After Being Pelted In Head By Object In Miami Club
Footage of Ashanti grinding on Nelly quickly went viral on social media, and fans used the opportunity to poke fun at Irv Gotti, who infamously disclosed intimate details about his alleged fling with the R&B star on Drink Champs earlier this year.
In addition to claiming her 2002 hit “Happy” was created after they had had sex, he revealed he learned about Ashanti dating Nelly by seeing the two artists attend an NBA game together that he was watching on TV at home.
Nelly and Ashanti reunited on stage in Oakland days after Gotti’s comments, where the former threw shade at the Murder Inc. founder.
“I got floor seats to the next game,” Nelly said as Ashanti walked off stage, prompting a laugh from his ex-girlfriend.
