Reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson recently named which NBA team she feels matches the energy her Las Vegas Aces bring to the hardwood. Wilson was invited to “The Roommates Show” wherein the hosts, New York Knicks stars Jalen Brunson & Josh Hart, and Path Talent CEO Matt Hillman asked the WNBA star the question.
Wilson immediately had the OKC Thunder in mind. She loved the team’s sense of togetherness, which reminded her about the Aces.
“I would say OKC [Thunder],” Wilson responded. “OKC seems like very nice. Like they are really like constantly always around each other. Like getting on each other’s nerves.”

Being the Aces’ leader since her rookie season in 2018, A’ja Wilson explained how she built the current culture her team has. While it’s every WNBA team’s goal to win a championship and achieve success, Wilson believes they should still know how to have fun.
“It was completely new, like [Las Vegas Aces] was a whole new team, we had a whole new front office,” Wilson said. “So like we could kind of write our own story in a sense.
“When I came in I was like we want to be particular who’s in our locker room,” Wilson continued. “We don’t need anyone that’s got huge attitude problems. Like that’s not going to be us. We want to win but we also want to have fun while doing it. It’s kind of the culture that I build and then so grateful for my teammates to kind of just accept in that culture.”
A’ja Wilson responds to Shaquille O’Neal’s proposal to make WNBA more popular

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal previously suggested that the WNBA should consider lowering the rims to help the female players create more jaw-dropping plays. Lowering the rim would make the female athletes look like male athletes because most of them would be able to reach the ring for slam dunks and other stunning plays. Accomplishing such feats would boost ratings, in Shaq’s opinion.
However, the reigning WNBA MVP immediately rejected the idea and expressed her thoughts on “The Roommates Show”.
“What is it gonna do?” Wilson asked. “I would much rather just gear my offseason to, ‘Okay, vertical, maxing it out, let’s focus on this jumping,’ versus lowering it an inch. That could change all of our shots. Do y’all not understand that?”
While many basketball fans are crazy for slam dunks and other gravity-defying plays on the hardwood, the WNBA players are more known for their skills and athleticism in other aspects of the game such as dribbling and shooting.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver pointed out that it’s stars like Caitlin Clark, who showcase these impressive fundamentals, which is one of the reasons why the WNBA is more popular these days.
