Kenny’s cousin Henry Law — who ran Law’s Choice Distillery with Kenny — told TMZ that the television personality died at a local hospital after suffering from several health struggles, including heart problems and diabetes, over the years. He was reportedly hospitalized due to a blood infection.

No official cause of death has been released.

The distillery did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Kenny starred on Discovery’s Moonshiners, which has run for 14 seasons, beginning in 2011. The docuseries chronicles “a diverse group of people living in Appalachia who carry on a 200-year-old tradition passed down from their forefathers, making moonshine,” according to an official synopsis.

Following news of his death, the Moonshiners Facebook account shared a tribute to Kenny.

“We’re deeply saddened about Kenny Law’s passing. He was a treasured member of our Moonshiners community since season eight,” the post read. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Shine on, Kenny”

“He was a third-generation moonshiner, following in the footsteps of his father and grandpa, Owen Law. He experienced many perils in life but miraculously, he seemed to be a ‘cat with nine lives.’”

After gaining fame as star of Moonshiners, he “truly enjoyed meeting fans of the show in-person, and often remarked how kind and supportive they are,” the obit stated.

Kenny’s “proudest accomplishment” was “his daughter, who he always said was his pride and joy.”

A visitation will be held on Jan. 17 at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount, Virginia with funeral services being conducted the following day at Flora Funeral Chapel.

He is survived by “his daughter and son-in-law, Kenzie and Nathan Wright; grandsons, Atlas and Fox Wright; brothers, David Law and Ronnie (Suzanne) Law; cousin, Henry Lee Law who was like a brother to him; and many beloved aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins,” per his obituary.
