Angel Reese doesn’t seem to be losing sleep over missing out on the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award. The Chicago Sky star only got one vote for the coveted award, which stirred another conversation among fans, but she wasn’t paying much attention to that, according to her latest tweet.

Reese shared a short message to explain that she’s not paying attention to whatever people might be saying.

“i really just be minding my business cause it’s a lot to mind😉,” she wrote.

Reese arrived at the WNBA with high expectations after a successful stint with the LSU Tigers. She was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by the Sky, instantly making an impact on the team’s popularity.

Even though she struggled to find consistency on offense, her rebounding skills became an attraction for her fans. Before her rookie season ended with a wrist injury, Reese played 34 games, averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 39.1% from the field and 73.6% from the free throw line.

Angel Reese’s social media activity confirmed that she’s indeed spending some quality time with her close people. On Wednesday, she made a bet with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal during a free-throw contest.

The LSU alumni engaged in a competition that eventually led Reese to make a bet with Shaq, trying to take care of his 52.7% shooting from the free-throw line.

She put a lot of money on the line to raise the bar for O’Neal’s free throw attempt.

“$100,000 if you make this shot,” Reese said.

Unfortunately for Reese, Shaq made it on his very first attempt. It’s unclear if she honored the bet but this looked more like banter than anything else.

Analyst says Angel Reese’s lone voter should show themselves

The 2024 ROY voting was a hot topic in the media this week. During Friday’s night ESPN WBNBA Countdown show, analyst Andraya Carter sent a message to the person who voted for Angel Reese.

“This is why we would love the WNBA to make voting not anonymous,” Carter said. “Because if you were the person that had that one vote, you should just be able to stand on it and we should know who you are.”

After a season full of conversations involving Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, this voting process seemingly added more fuel to the debates. The youngsters have bright futures and fans hope that the useless conversations end sooner than later.
