Hayes put up a great performance against the Seattle Storm in the first round of the playoffs. She was second on the scoring charts just behind her team’s star player, A’ja Wilson. Hayes racked up 20 points, four rebounds and one assist. She also made five incredible steals, forcing turnovers for her opponents.

Martin, on the other hand, has been watching and learning from her more experienced teammates from the bench. She had participated in a few games at the start of the season; however, midway through the season, she strained her leg and had to take more rest.

Kate Martin earns new nickname after securing win against the Wings

Kate Martin might not be making a lot of headlines like the other rookies from her draft class, but she found a place on a team that is arguably the best in the world right now. On Thursday, the Aces faced the Dallas Wings in their last game of the season. The Aces rested their starters for the playoffs and allowed the bench players, including Martin, to shine.

The former Iowa star made the best out of the opportunity and delivered a good performance. She played 32 minutes and scored seven points, collected six rebounds and dished out four assists. The official X, formerly Twitter, handle of the Aces posted a video of their rookie scoring a 3-pointer from the edge.

They added a nickname for Martin in the caption of the post:

“MON3YYY MARTINNN.”

Martin has appeared in 34 games with an average game time of 11.6 minutes. She is averaging 2.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists with a 30.7 field-goal shooting percentage this season.
