Rachel DeMita ponders outrage if Caitlin Clark opened up on getting ‘death threats’: “She has personal security”
Rachel DeMita weighed in on the fan hate and abuse Caitlin Clark received throughout her rookie season, which also included death threats coming in. According to DeMita, the Indiana Fever star though didn’t necessarily complain about it and asked the question to the rest of the league who had expressed their displeasure on Fever fans and their treatment towards them.
In her latest episode of the ‘Courtside Club’, DeMita wondered what the outrage would have been if Clark had expressed how she was treated.
“I wonder if Caitlin, in every post-game press conference and every interview that she did with reporters, and anytime she did any media, if came out and talked about the kind of hateful comments that she was getting, the death threats that she was getting, the stalking allegations that she was getting—if she came out and told everybody the reason why she has personal security that goes with her every single place.”

“Only person that believed in me”- ‘Heartbroken’ Angel Reese vents in emotional message after Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon’s firing
She further added:
“It’s a lot so it’s not just Caitlin Clark fans or Indiana Fever fans… it is not all going in one direction there are Sky fans. I’m going to say fans because I don’t know if they’re fans or trolls who live online just waiting for somebody to say something about Caitlin or say something about the Fever.”
The comments come on the back of Alyssa Thomas’ lashing out at the fans after the Connecticut Sun ended Indiana’s playoff run. Connecticut head coach Stephanie White also lambasted the crowd for their behavior towards the players.
As for Clark, she had shed light on the racist and misogynistic comments earlier in June calling it “disappointing”. Now, DeMita believes that Caitlin Clark opted for the more professional approach than complaining about fans’ treatment of her in her maiden season in the WNBA.
Undeterred by criticism, Caitlin Clark ends first year in the WNBA with Rookie of the Year honors
Despite the immense drama and fan toxicity that has been doing the rounds, Caitin Clark ended her regular season with ‘Rookie of the Year’ honors and was named unanimous winner of the award. She was also named to the All-WNBA First Team and All-WNBA Rookie Team. The guard finished fourth in WNBA MVP award voting, though Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson won the silverware.
Clark was a starter in all 40 regular-season games for the Fever, averaging 19.2 points per game. She was the first rookie to record a triple-double and the first player in franchise history to record a triple-double. She set the league record for most assists in a game with 19 against the Dallas Wings in July this year.
The hope now would be that the WNBA would take active measures to curb the drama around Caitlin Clark and the Fever fandom that has made headlines for the last few days.
