“I have conspiracy theories” – Kelsey Plum provides blunt assessment of teammate A’ja Wilson’s unanimous MVP prospects

Las Vegas guard Kelsey Plum strongly believes that teammate A’ja Wilson is the unaninous decision WNBA MVP this season. She highlighted that no one comes close this year to what the Aces superstar has done on both ends of the court.

She shared this in an interview with SB Nation, asserting that it would be a disservice to the game if Wilson is not recognized hands down with the WNBA’s top individual award.

Kelsey said:

“If she’s not the unanimous MVP, I have conspiracy theories. I mean, I really will. I don’t even know who else you put in the conversation, to be honest.”

A’ja Wilson is having a historic season, averaging 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals. She recently breached the 1,000-point mark, becoming the first WNBA player to score over a thousand points in a single season. She, too, set a new mark for rebounds collected in a single-season with 451 with one more game to play in the regular season.

More importantly, the former South Carolina standout is anchoring effectively the attack of the Aces, who are gunning for a third straight WNBA title.

The Aces have won their last four games, and nine of their last 11, and are currently at fourth spot with a 26-13 record. They play their last game of the regular season on Thursday against the Dallas Wings.

A’ja Wilson grateful to have teammates who allow her to be herself

A’ja Wilson took pride in whatever she accomplishes on the court but admitted she would not be where she is now if not for very supportive teammates, who allow her to be herself every time she steps on the floor.

The 28-year-old superstar center of the Las Vegas Aces made sure to give credit to her teammates after she made history for becoming the first WNBA player to score 1,000 points in a single season.

A’ja Wilson said (via SB Nation):

“I hope y’all know how much I love y’all. Each and every last one of y’all. Y’all never understand how much y’all mean to me, because there’s days where I hate being A’ja Wilson. I hate it. But when I come into work, and I see y’all smiling, and I see y’all just happy, it makes me who I am. I am so grateful to have terammates like y’all.”

The special bond that A’ja Wilson has with the rest of the Aces has resulted to a lot of success for the Las Vegas organization. Since coming on board as the top overall rookie pick in 2018, the former South Carolina standout has helped the team to steady excellence and competitiveness, including winning back-to-back league titles in 2022 and 2023 and angling to make it three straight this season.
