The NFL Fined Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon An Insane Amount Of Money For Something He Didn’t Even Say
Joe Mixon may have made history this week as he might’ve become the first player in history to get fined for criticizing the officials over something that never came out of his mouth.
Mixon is lashing out at the NFL over a fine he received for something he didn’t say.
Mixon started out by tagging the NFL on X and calling the league “wild” as he posted a GIF of the classic Rik Rok and Shaggy music video, “Wasn’t Me.”
The dynamic Houston Texans running back would then add context when he stated the league was fining him for something “someone else said” while stating that they might later fine him for Connor McDavid cross-checking an opponent in an NHL game.
The league fined Joe Mixon $25,000 for tweeting postgame: “Why play the game if every 50/50 call goes with Chiefs. These officials are trash and bias.
Former Cincinnati Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh was the one who put that out. Mixon never even liked it or retweeted it.
This news comes on the heels of two penalties against defensive end Will Anderson Jr. and linebacker Henry To’oTo’o for hits on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes that cost the Texans badly.
Mixon and Anderson were both critical of the calls.
“Everybody know how it is, playing up here, you can never leave it into the refs’ hands,” Mixon said. “But I mean the whole world sees what it is, bro. It is what it is. It’s all good, though.”
Mixon’s actual comments were not mentioned in the fine letter by the NFL.
Joe Mixon Plans To Appeal Fine
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is getting fined by the NFL over something somebody else said.
Multiple Texans, including head coach DeMeco Ryans and defensive end Will Anderson Jr., voiced their frustrations about certain calls, but nothing egregious enough to be fined for.
According to Mixon and his agent, Peter Schaffer, Mixon was fined for saying, “Why play the game if every 50/50 call goes with Chiefs. These officials are trash and bias,” following the Texans’ 23-14 loss to the Chiefs, even though he never said that.
Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer, told Pro Football Talk that the running back will “defend and appeal” the fine, and “will explore all other legal avenues to rectify this situation.”
