Dwyane Wade expressed his excitement after Angel Reese broke another WNBA record against the Indiana Fever on Friday. The rookie forward finished the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds, recording another double-double in her remarkable first season in the WNBA.

This performance meant that Reese broke the record for the most double-doubles for a rookie with 23. The prior record belonged to Tina Charles, who got 22 in 2010.

Wade, a Reese fan and part-owner of the Sky, took to social media to send a three-word message to the No. 7 overall pick.

“History in the making ⭐️,” the three-time NBA champion tweeted.

Even though she got another personal record, the Chicago Sky were dominated from start to finish by the Indiana Fever by a 100-81 final result. Reese concluded the game with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor, while Caitlin Clark tore the Sky apart with 31 points, including five 3-pointers.

Reese was the center of a special game, as the Sky hosted the first-ever Barbie theme game to pay homage to their young star. She unveiled the unreleased Reebok ‘Engine A’ for this matchup, but none of that prevented the Sky from succumbing to one of the hottest teams in the WNBA at this point.

Shaquille O’Neal discusses his relationship with Angel Reese

Dwyane Wade wasn’t the only NBA legend paying attention to what Angel Reese did on the court on Friday. Shaquille O’Neal, a former teammate of Wade, attended the game, sitting courtside with Chicago Bulls young star Matas Buzelis.

A video posted by the WNBA on X, formerly known as “Twitter,” showed O’Neal explaining how excited he was to watch this game.

“I’m very excited. It’s my first time watching her (Reese) play as a pro and I get to see Caitlin Clark up close in person. So looking forward to the game.

When asked about his relationship with Reese, he said:

“She is like a daughter to me, so I’m gonna protect her. I’ll call her and I’ll just mess with her but it’s great. She’s our daughter.”

Angel Reese is just starting her professional career, but she’s already turned a lot of heads with her talents on the court. She’s a walking double-double and once her offense starts to get better, the Sky will have more reasons to be happy with the former LSU star. As for now, they keep trying to secure the eighth spot in the standings to advance to the 2024 WNBA playoffs.
