Social Media Is Destroying ESPN’s Adam Schefter Over His Absurd Comment About Cleveland Browns Quarterback Deshaun Watson This Week
ESPN insider Adam Schefter is taking some heat online over a recent tweet about Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The QB has endured a rough start to the season, both on and off the field. Still, there are many fans who refuse to feel sorry for him and don’t even want to see him get credit.
Schefter brought up an interesting fact about Watson on Tuesday as he noted how well the signal-caller played for the Houston Texans after they started the 2018 season 0-3. Watson recorded 4,165 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and nine interceptions that year.
“FWIW: During the Super-Bowl era, 255 teams have started 0-3; six of them have gone on to make the playoffs. The last 0-3 team to make the playoffs was the 2018 Houston Texans, who were quarterbacked by Deshaun Watson,” Schefter wrote.
Adam Schefter’s Tweet About Deshaun Watson Rubbed Some Fans The Wong Way
While the above points to a stat, some fans did not like it and felt like Schefter shared the Watson positivity as a favor to the player’s agent. Others felt like he was giving the QB credit unnecessarily.
“Schefter loves randomly defending this guy,” another claimed.
“This tweet is dumb,” said a third.
“okay????? And?????” a fan asked.
To be fair to Schefter, this wasn’t a bad thing to point out, especially given the fact that Watson is in the very same situation and has a chance to repeat the feat six years later.
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals are also 0-3 after another surprising loss, so it could be an interesting race between these two Ohio teams to see who could reach the postseason after the worst possible start across three games.
